About
The No Broken Links Directory highlights solo and chamber works that include flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, and/or horn (in any combination). The directory focuses on music by composers from communities that continue to be marginalized in classical and new music—marginalization shaped by the ways Western music education and canon formation have been institutionalized, including through white supremacy, ableism, colonization, and male dominance.
Over the years, we’ve learned that highlighting people based on a short list of identities doesn’t fully achieve this mission. We also recognize that databases like ours can cause harm if they are misused or misunderstood. What truly motivates us is the process of learning a composer’s story. In that spirit, we hope to encourage No Broken Links users to make discovery and research a regular part of their practice, and we welcome your feedback and questions.
