PROGRAM NOTE

The Hermit, Card IX and a major arcana of the Tarot deck, shows a wise man with a face of stone carrying a staff and a blazing lantern. Standing atop an icy mountain, he emerges from a cloud of fog that is illuminated by the glowing stars above. This sage figure frequently symbolizes internal reflection, the end of being alone, and keen insight.

The Fool, the wild card and also a major arcana of the Tarot deck, depicts a naive boy carrying a golden sack full of material possessions and is led by a white puppy. He gazes upward, his enthusiasm for life and adventure radiating outward, and he unknowingly approaches a jagged precipice. The Fool is often interpreted as the beginning of a significant journey where the outcome involves blind discovery with mistakes along the way.
